Where Can I Find a Steak Eggand Cheese Bagel Now

Fast food is a touchy subject in the food blog world. People love to hate it. The mere mention of a fast food joint on most food blogs causes 50 comment wars about corporations and global warming and McDonalds being the root of all evil. Such hostility! Well guess what folks, I partake in the occasional fast food indulgence and I am NOT afraid to say it! Sometimes, you just crave a dollar double cheeseburger or a cheesy crunchy gordita. There are a lot of commercials for fast food, and when its late night here in Bermuda and one comes on the screen, it's hard to handle since there is no fast food on the island! One of the things I crave most, is McDonalds breakfast, it's a must when I am off the island. I recently tried to recreate a McDonalds steak egg and cheese bagel and have had near perfect results. I thought this would be a great recipe to share for all those college kids out there who love a hung-over McDonald's breakfast but rarely make that 10:30 AM cutoff!!

Whatever onions are fine, today we had red. You can't leave out the onions though!! They are very important. Pay attention kid.

Don't make them too small or they will melt away.

Is this really happening? Is this a picture on TFIMB? Or some other crappy food blog that takes a lot of shortcuts? Nope kids, you aren't still feeling effects from those purple things you ate last night, you need these to make this re-creation taste on point. NEVER NEVER use these for a cheesesteak!!!! Please! This is the only thing you should ever use these for! I think the name for these came about when the first person tasted them. The scientists at the company blindfolded a bunch of taste testers and handed them their new product on a plate. At first bite they all said "ummmm…steak?

Butter is key to this recipe if you want it to taste like the real thing. Don't give up! I know there is probably a Project Runway marathon on, or you are syncing up Samurai Jack to Second Stage Turbine Blade, but you are losing focus here.

Salt, butter, onions and a half tsp of sugar.

Brown them up nice.

5 "servings" of the "steak" should do for 2 sandwiches.

3 eggs.

Toast the bagel

When the "steak" is done, dry it out.

Dry it pretty well.

Melt some cheese on the bagels after they get toasted. Cheddar.

MMMM. I know you like cheese toast, but your almost there! Keep it up. You are going to need the energy from this sandwich to play frisbee on the quad later.

Cook the eggs like an omelet that you never fold, just flip it once.

Fold it over like they do at mc d's

To impress people even more, wrap it in parchment paper and draw a McDonalds logo on the top.

Just like the real thing!

Hmmm maybe it is those purple things…
-EDIT
There is no recipe here because I wrote this post when I was 25 and didn't care about recipes back then! I may revisit this one day and add a true recipe, but for now, use the weird pictures as a guide and follow your heart and you will be just fine. Also check out the comments below for a good fight, people can't agree on weather it is creamy dill mustard or hollandaise on the sandwich.
